In the bar turning sector, the quality of mechanical parts is measured not only by machining precision, but by a workshop's ability to guarantee, repeat, and document this quality at every stage of production. At Massard & Cie, this requirement has been an integral part of the company culture for decades.
From the first sample to final delivery, quality control relies on rigorous organization, high-performance equipment, complete traceability, and the daily involvement of operators. This approach enables Massard to deliver compliant, stable bar-turned parts, ready for integration into demanding industrial environments.
An Organization Focused on Rigor
Quality control at Massard begins with the analysis of the client's plan. Once the need is defined, technical teams implement a controlled manufacturing process, with clear identification of critical steps to follow throughout the workflow.
The quality system is certified:
- ISO 9001 (since 1993)
- ISO 14001 (since 2014)
- EN 9100 in progress for aerospace sector requirements
This triple orientation towards quality, environment, and traceability is managed through a structured organization centered around:
- integrated control plans,
- a customized client quality file,
- and continuous production monitoring via SPC (Statistical Process Control).
This robotic demonstration shows how technology reinforces traceability, repeatability, and systematic quality, values at the core of Massard & Cie's approach.
100% Automated Quality Control with our Stäubli Robot
-
To illustrate this demand for rigor, a Stäubli robot executes a simple automated cycle:
-
Part loading at the station,
-
Precise square imprint creation,
-
100% optical inspection via vision camera,
-
Automatic sorting of compliant and non-compliant parts
-

Integrated Workshop Control Means
The company has several dimensional control stations, implemented during production. Each operator is involved in daily quality monitoring. But it is also thanks to its specialized technical means that Massard can guarantee a high level of conformity:
Keyence Cameras
for high-speed optical inspection: used to detect deviations in shape, diameter, or threading on large series.
Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM)
for technical parts with complex geometries: they allow very precise control on all axes.
Conventional Metrology Devices
(calipers, micrometers, rings, threaded plugs, etc.): for control points in the workshop.
Thread Tests
by GO/NOGO gauges, including for complex rolled threads.
This complementarity of tools allows for the control of both simple parts (studs, screws, inserts, etc.) and critical components machined from hard or technical materials.
Traceability, Monitoring, and Client Documentation
Every manufacturing process is subject to complete traceability. Critical data is recorded and archived for each batch, in line with client requirements:
- Customized control sheets
- Quality files with conformity reports
- Monitoring of corrections / drifts via SPC
- Retention of results over time
This system not only guarantees dimensional conformity but also provides a level of documentary assurance compliant with the specifications of the most regulated industrial sectors (automotive, hydraulics, energy, defense, etc.).

A Trained and Involved Team
At Massard, the human factor is essential in quality control. The production team, comprising approximately 20 people, is regularly trained in new technical requirements and metrology tools. Quality monitoring is integrated into the operator's function, not separated from manufacturing. This ensures better anticipation of deviations and responsiveness in case of anomalies.
A Quality Requirement Embedded at the Heart of Massard & Cie
Quality control at Massard is not a one-off step: it is a company philosophy, integrated into the heart of every manufacturing process.
The combination of certifications, measurement equipment, complete traceability, and operator expertise guarantees the systematic conformity of parts, while reducing scrap and non-conformities.
It is this constant demand that enables Massard to deliver defect-free fastening parts and machined components, on time, and compliant with the strictest standards.
