Massard is an SME based in Haute Loire, department 43, specializing in bar turning of mechanical parts.
Certified ISO 9002 and then ISO 9001 since 1993, quality has long been an integral part of Massard’s manufacturing processes and overall management. Since 2014, this Altiligérienne SME has been clearly demonstrating its values through ISO 14001 certification.
QUALITY, a guarantee of safety for your turned mechanical parts
The emergence of the notion of quality seems to date back to the 1930s, with the advent of a new school of thought that proposed new working and organizational methods for controlling product quality in industrial companies.
Following in the footsteps of Messrs Fayolle, Taylor, Deming, then Ishikawa, the notion of quality initially came to meet market expectations, but very quickly became an important guarantee of safety.
As already mentioned in our previous articles, our expertise in assembling your mechanical parts and fasteners results in a sub-assembly that assumes a function when assembled.
At Massard, functions are often referred to as safety functions, and as always, they accompany us in our daily lives, discreetly but surely.
Quality is defined by AFNOR as follows: “a quality product or service is one whose characteristics enable it to satisfy the expressed or implicit needs of consumers”.
If ISO 9002 was the appropriate standard for a production-focused organization, at Massard we support our customers from the very first expression of their needs. Our Design Office co-develops solutions adapted to these needs. Switching to version 9001 was a no-brainer, but back in 1993, almost 30 years ago, it was visionary. Indeed, Massard was one of the first ISO 9001-certified small and medium-sized mechanical fastener manufacturers in the Haute-Loire region.

Bar turning, parts, mechanical fasteners and Environment
While ISO 9001 sets out the organizational requirements for a quality management system, ISO 14001 is a framework defining the rules for integrating environmental concerns into a company’s activities, in order to control environmental impacts and reconcile the organization’s operational imperatives with respect for the environment.

Here again, Massard’s move to ISO 14001 in 2014 is highly innovative.
This move was initiated by the company’s management (Xavier Bonche), and to keep up with the times, Massard is not thinking in isolation: as a member of the ADES association, Massard welcomes a quality assurance specialist on a weekly timeshare basis.
The latter is responsible for keeping abreast of the ever-changing technical and environmental regulations, as well as carrying out blank audits, organizing cross-audits (it is not advisable to audit your own procedures), and preparing customer audits…
Internally, it’s Gaëlle’s job to make sure everything runs smoothly:
- recording of material traceability when it arrives,
- the final certificate that accompanies the finished piece,
- from control ring management to 4-legged lawnmowers!
So yes, at Massard, your screw-machining company in the Haute-Loire, Economy rhymes with Ecology, and we’re very proud of it.
